A message from Laura Collins, the Friends of Figges Marsh Group:
We completed phase 1 of the hedge! Thanks so much to all the brilliant volunteers who came to help out. It went really well and looks amazing, all thanks to your hard work. And we all learned a new skill too!
I would also like to specifically mention two groups without which this wouldn’t have been possible. The North Mitcham Parks and Friends group, headed by local councillors Linda Kirby and Geraldine Stanford, contributed all the funds needed to pay for the hedge. Thank you very much! The Tree Wardens Group Merton lent us their expertise in Jane and Peter, who showed us how to plant a lovely hedge which has the best chance of establishing. Thank you both, too! Both groups do great work, so if you’re interested in learning more, please let me know and I can put you in touch.
Finally, our next meeting will be Thursday 28 February at 8pm at The Gorringe (pub on London Road). I will try to reserve our usual table upstairs but in any case the table will be booked in my name. I hope to see many of you there to discuss updates on other projects and any new ideas you may have.
